1964 Buick Riviera
Stunning example of a show quality restored 1964 Buick Riviera! This Riviera was purchased from the second owner in 2003 and over the course of the next eight years underwent a professional and very complete cosmetic and mechanical restoration, costing in excess of $50,000.00
The car was disassembled, fenders, hood, door skins, and deck-lid were alkaline dipped to remove all the pain, filler, undercoating, and surface rust. All glass and interior were removed before the body went to be media blasted. Once down to bare metal, the Riviera was painted with PPG base cart and clear coat paint matching the original Surf Green factory color. All of the interior and exterior chrome including the upper and lower bumpers, bumper guards, turn signals grills and lower filler were re-plated. All stainless trim was polished.
The factory deluxe interior was completely restored, including a new dash pad, wood kit, seats with powder coated frames, new horsehair, buns, springs, and covers, new headliner, new lenses, new chrome throughout the cabin, new carpets and pedal pads, new weather stripping, new trunk cardboard, and floor mat. The entire chassis and engine bay where media based to show the incredible condition of the underlying sheet metal. Absolutely no rust or patch work ever.
The engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded to the pre-GS dual quad specs, bored .30 over and a set of forged 10.5:1 pistons were installed. New Buick dual quad cam forged cram, new lifters, push rods, rebuilt rocker arm assemblies, oil pump, brass plugs, water pump, thermostat, wires, belts and hoses. Rebuilt carburetor, radiator, distributor, alternator, starter, and steering pump. New motor mounts and transmission mounts.
Most of the brackets and under-hood items have been dipped and powder coated. All vacuum lines under the hood and under the dash have been replaced. New brake shoes, lines, master cylinder, and wheel cylinders. Powder coated originals wheels with restored deluxe wire covers. New Dunlop tires and new exhaust system.
